Welcome Message from Our National Chairmen
We want to welcome each of you to our October 2008 Urban Outreach Conference at the Doubletree Hotel in Oakbrook, Illinois. Our theme for this year is “Raising the Standards of Christian Education” (Psalm 96:1-3). As we explore together how we can work together in raising the Standards of Christian Education, we will look at how Music, Worship, and Media are integrally related and connected to Christian Education with the church, the community, and the world.
This is a dynamic opportunity to learn how from sacred music to hip hop…from holy worship to authentic worship…to taking a deep dive into the riches of the personal and communal experience of the Psalms will encourage, ignite, and invite each of us to want to draw closer to the Lord. As teachers and leaders, learning more about God’s Word provides us with the knowledge and the know-how that we need to serve God’s people.
Again, Welcome and thank you to Urban Outreach 2008. We look forward to your sharing in this learning moment and witnessing to the teaching and educational ministry of Jesus through your studies, leadership, and dedication.

Mission
The Urban Outreach Foundation and UMI were created to serve churches and church leaders, primarily in the African American community, with quality Christian education productions and services to support and enhance the effectiveness of their ministries and to train and develop leaders.
The Urban Outreach Foundation and UMI are not affiliated with any particular denominational group, allowing them to serve and include virtually all churches in their constituencies. The Urban Outreach National Conference for Christian Education and Leadership Development is designed to promote God’s Kingdom in urban communities by addressing issues of leadership and Christian education to strengthen local churches.
